Annual Report

Co-chairs: Ricardo Quinonez, Baylor College of Medicine, (Term end 2017)
Alex Kemper, Duke University (Term end 2017)

SIG purpose/mission: To promote, support and highlight quality improvement within the Academic Pediatric Association

Current SIG goals:

  1. Increase membership engagement
  2. Partner with other SIGs for collaboration opportunities

Annual summary:
Our SIG activities were mostly centered on our presentation for the Pediatric Academic Societies meeting. We partnered with the SIG for Complex Care and developed a 3 hour seminar on "Using Quality Improvement in the Care of Children with Medical Complexity". The presentation had 2 main parts: John Gordon presented the development and evaluation using PDSA cycles of a Complex Care program and Arti Desai presented the development and evaluation of quality indicators for children with Medical Complexity. Our SIG session was well attended with close to 100 attendees and initial evaluations show that it was very well received.
